    I am going to repost my original comment on your original video just to add context. Feel free to skim past it if you remember. So I am an annual passholder, have a disability (which is considered a developmental disability because my brain is affected), However, my disability mainly affects me physically and I have a service dog for mobility. I have always gotten approved for DAS. Now, I'm terrified and even having nightmares that I won't get approved for DAS. Before anyone says "oh just use a wheelchair/scooter" I can't. 1. That would take my independence away 2. Defeats the purpose of having my mobility service dog with me 3. I would get too stiff and be in more pain 4. Whether I'm sitting or standing the heat bothers me the same way and 5. My service dog and me sitting a wheelchair (power chair or manual) or a scooter we wouldn't be able to fit in the line he would have to go behind me where I wouldn't be able to see him. Sorry for all of that I'm just super frustrated that now I may not be able to ever go to Disney again. Oh another thing I have 4 immediate family members that I go to Disney with so I guess now I'll just have to pick 3 of them. I have been using DAS for 20 years (since I was 4/5). Update: I did apply for DAS recently, as I have a upcoming trip with my brother and sister-in-law, as well as my service dog. I was denied and they cast member told me “DAS is now only for people with autism or similar developmental disabilities that prevent them from staying in line” this was after me explaining my issues. I was given the return to queue option which basically means that I will have to go up to a cast member. Explain my issues and go into the line. Then when I can’t handle the line anymore, I have to somehow get out of the line. Find another cast member and Tell them I’m leaving the line. I have go sit somewhere away from the rest of my party so that they can continue waiting in line. Then when they get up to the merge point or about to go on the ride, they have to send me a text or a phone call that they’re there then have to go back through the line to meet up with my party. The cast member asked me on my interview. Do I have any concerns about this and I said yes I have a 70 pound service dog who wears a mobility harness. It is going to be very difficult for me to get out of line and then back into line and she just kept repeating “oh its safe”. If it were up to me and the rest of my family meaning my brother, my sister-in-law and my parents we would not be going back. However, my aunt booked a trip to Disney in December. I’m not blaming her at all. I am just frustrated that I now have to go back to a park where I’m not accommodated.

    • @LostGirlinTomorrowland
      @LostGirlinTomorrowland 4 дня назад

      Wow about the return to line option. It also creates a very different experience at the park than someone without the need for an accommodation. Those without get to spend their whole day with their party, while you are stuck separated from your party. Hopefully Disney does the right thing and stops discriminating. We are sorry you have to go through all that to enjoy the park with your family.

      @LostGirlinTomorrowland I have spoken to Fredrika Executive Correspondence team On the phone for about a hour she wanted to listen to all of my feedback regarding this system change and how we where so upset after the interview process which I found insulting for us to be told you aren't disabled in there opinion then when I asked her to explain why we didn't qualify was told she doesn't need to justify her decision which wad awful then I asked what makes there park different as my daughter is registered at every other attraction in Orlando without a single problem most parks like legoland and universal seaworld its been 2 emails

      We don’t really do “how to” videos on this channel. We sometimes do travel based on our Awkward Chats podcast. This channel is more for sharing our life, adventures, and our stories. I literally had to step away from the facebook groups, TikTok videos and the disability community in order to take care of my mental health. We live in such an individualized society that support seems foreign to so many people. I come from a community based culture and it’s shocking how nasty people have been and how people are not willing to help others. It so sad. I have a magic key and I used to go weekly but I have been in over 2 months now. I plan on going soon and seeing if I qualify or not. I’m so nervous.

    I was getting a really good vibe about this place until the double billing! Did you ask for the manager?? I would have well before 45 minutes, and if they didn't fix it, I assure you I would have called the hotel mgr and very politely explained how disappointed I was. I don't mind paying for a higher quality hotel, but I expect to be treated in a similar way. And typically if a higher end hotel or restaurant is at fault, they will often bend over backwards to make it right. That was true pre-YELP and YT, but perhaps moreso now. Because folks like me, who sadly was a sucker for the duck soap, now are thinking the newer Guest House at Graceland might be the way to go. Memphis has long been on my "one of these years" list. I wasn't that keen on the Peabody, as I find old hotel rooms to typically be tiny. Seeing this video had me rethinking my choice. Now....well I wouldn't not go because of it, but I would have loved to hear how they addressed your problem!! PS Turndown usually includes a chocolate or mint on the pillow. Some leave them on a tray, or sealed ones on the pillows. I'm super curious how the prices compare with those hotels. Either way I plan to visit here...the ducks are legendary, and I wouldn't mind seeing Elvis stuff and that history room. And what a stunning piano!!

      When the situation happened the waitress disappeared. There was no other staff in the area to even talk to and the manager never came out to speak with us, at all. Honestly, by the time she got back we had been traveling all day, add on the extra 45 minutes, and we were ready to get back to our room and relax. We had just stopped at the bar to take up some drinks to our room. We expected better from the hotel, as well. But we also don’t feel we should have to do their job at a higher end hotel. It should have been taken care of by the waitress. If that makes sense? We have considered staying at Graceland too, have to let us know if you do and how it goes.

    One of you just stated that you once had to wait for an hour in a line for Rise of Resistance while using the DAS. And you did it. So you are not capable of waiting in the free line at Disney with the non disabled people??? That’s exactly what the CEO and screeners are countering. That’s what they will argue in court during a class action lawsuit. Equal access and equal experience to the free line for all people who are capable of waiting one hour for a ride. They will likely play the clip in this video where you acknowledged this as evidence.

    • @LostGirlinTomorrowland
      @LostGirlinTomorrowland 21 день назад

      Thanks for taking the time to comment. It’s is clear you don’t have a disability and we are not currently involved in any class action. If they did use that to attack others in a class action, it would be a mistake both legally and publicly. We had Disney+ at one time too, you going to take that stance, as well? Not sure what you are looking for here but we would recommend taking some time to talk with people with disabilities. You clearly do not understand what an invisible disability can do to a person day-to-day let alone minute-to-minute. Hopefully that can teach you some empathy and understanding.

    The stand next to the bed is a Suit Stand. They were used primarily in the late 50's-60's, for men to set out their pressed suit, tie, belt, etc. for the next day. Thanks for the information on the study about the blue lights on the scanners being used to determine the alleged number of DAS users. I’m a local for Disneyland, but I’ve visited WDW a few times before being diagnosed autistic and the scanners have been an absolute pain. Blue light after blue light after blue light. With all its billions, you’d thing Disney Parks could have a working computer system. 🙄 Also, I’m glad to see you’re pushing the disabled community to band together. As I said, I’m autistic, and while I was reapproved after the changes, they initially refused to provide me an accommodation. I also knew this was going to be an absolute boondoggle because it was going to exclude so many people. I’ve already filed a complaint with California‘s Civil Rights Department to determine if this was a violation of the Unruh Civil Rights Act and will be speaking to them in October. Granted, I cannot speak for everyone, but I’m going to do what I can. When I hear about others getting accommodations, I’m glad because all of us need as much help as possible.

    What bothers me outside of the ethical and moral issues with this decision....but the increased risk it causes to health issues as well as increased risk of fights and arguments of those in line with people with disabilities who are trying to re-enter the line (as per one of their "accomodations"). Their other "recommendations" further isolates those with disabilities is n the parks from their families (where the rest of the family stays in line and the person needing to leave the line waits until those in line are at the front). There are so many issues with this it's nearly impossible to comb through all of them especially considering how personal and individualized disabilities are.. Another thing to note is that a large portion of those who are disabled are on a fixed income and cannot aford to pay the additional money for LL just to have a semblance of what they used to have with DAS...which as you know still doesn't provide the same accomodations DAS does. Not to mention...with DAS .. you're still waiting the same amount of time those in standby are, you just do it out of line and in a way that better accomodates disabilities. People trying to label it as a "skip the line hack" have no idea what they're talking about or what DAS really is.. This has nothing to do with people abusing DAS and everything to do with 💵 imo..

      Couldn’t agree more. Returning to the line is crazy. Trying to find a cast member in a moment of need inline would be difficult enough. Then you have to add the frustrations from the other people in the line and trying to get out of the line. Then after you finally get out of the line, you still have to find a safe space and take care of any issues that arise. Also, you never know how long that will take before you can return to the line. Also in relation to costs. You have to pay so much to get in the park now and I’m sure they are planning on raising prices again soon. Asking for more costs on top of that is crazy, just because someone needs an accommodation. Disney is just too greedy.

      @@LostGirlinTomorrowland It's a sneaky way to charge for accommodations. It should be like Service Dogs. If a places charges a fee for pets, you cannot charge that fee for a Service Dog. They are basically charging a fee for an accommodation, and saying that only certain disabilities qualify. It would be like saying that only people in wheelchairs can use a ramp, but if you have a cane or crutches, you cannot. You HAVE to take the stairs. There are disabled people who also go alone. How do they get back in line when they have no party to return to?

My wife always has her meter , glucose and insulin with her so she could easily treat herself in a line. If you are having a low then you should not get on a ride anyways. If your levels are so out of control that you cant wait in a line then you better forget Disney and get to your Dr and get it under control. Half the freakin country is type 2...so all of them should have DAS?? You abuse a system for your own gain when there are people out there autism and cognitive disabilities that really need help and you whine that your BS levels change when your hot. You should be ashamed of yourself. As a husband to a diabetic and a father to an autistic child, let me say that you are a horrible human and part of the reason that Disney had to make these changes. Wow. I’m sorry your wife does not feel able to ask for help for her disease. I can’t imagine living with someone who cares so little about others and lacks basic empathy. Living with people who need help and still treating others this way. Shame on you. I hope one day you can learn empathy and compassion. Also never said those with autism shouldn’t have access to DAS. Type 1 can be different person to person. You don’t get a medal by touching out your lows in line or dealing with a random high without utilizing assistance. Just because that’s how your wife manages and deals with her disease doesn’t mean that’s how everybody else should. I use dexcom and my pump, and there have been plenty of days even with SAS I left the park cause it just wasn’t working in my favor. DAS allows me for the millionth time to be able to manage without losing out on having a fun day. Again sorry you feel that way. Stop being part of the problem and try to be part of the solution. @@LostGirlinTomorrowland1st off., my wife doesn't play victim. She can take care of herself. She told me to say that and she is the one who told me that you are abusing the system by claiming you need DAS for diabetes. You yourself said that you went for years before you even knew about DAS. So you were fine dealing with it before you realized that you could take advantage of a program to make it more convenient for you. That proves the point that you can..you just don't want to. And now because of inconsiderate people like you, Disney had to tighten down access to the pass. Now there are people with IBS, Crohn's disease, autism and other legitimate reasons that they CAN NOT wait in long lines are being denied because scumbags like you had to go and take advantage of something you didn't need in the first place. You talk about how greedy Disney execs are but they are no more selfish than you are. I never said that you said that autistic people shouldn't get DAS. I said that you shouldn't because others actually need it. And I'm not part of the problem, you are. I don't hate anyone, especially people with disabilities. My wife is awesome and I have 3 autistic children. So get off your high horse thinking your virtuous because you have diabetes ( I'm willing to bet type 2). There are many people who have disabilities that aren't able to be controlled with a with any means. Maybe you should learn a little empathy yourself before you open your mouth about things you don't know enough about.

    I dont disagree that the executives are greedy and just want more money. But to say that is the only peope to be mad at is ridiculous. You should be most mad at the idiots who abused the system. You even said that anyone could get DAS for any reason..and they did..there were videos all over the internet tell people what to claim to get DAS. Ive personally seen people at the parks laughing about using it. Its about time they did something about it! I would rather they just require an actual medical diagnosis, but i understand they dont want to be responsible for dealing with that. If you dont think that there was a problem, you either haven't been paying attention or are one of the abusers.

      Thanks for taking the time to comment. Again, as we have said in many comments and in the video prove people are abusing the system. Disney has made no press release stating that was the reason for the change. If they had proof, wouldn’t they come out with the evidence to squash all the resistance? The thing is they don’t have it. It is 100% on greedy executives. As I stated in another comment, Chapek changed the measurement from revenue per day, for the parks, to individual spend per visit to make the numbers look better to shareholders. The parks are struggling and they see those with disability as a golden goose. Don’t buy the bs supporting those who hoard everything. Stand with those who need accommodations to enjoy the park.

    Well, really, it all comes down as to whether or not your disability affects your tolerance or intolerance for waiting (not standing, waiting) in a regular line for a long period of time. Disney just hasn't made that clear enough, until now. I also think it's unfair to blame it all on money making, because if that's all Disney ever wanted, then they would just get rid of DAS altogether, but obviously they can't. The reason why they list autism as an example, is because a lot of people with disabilities who can't wait in a queue for a long period of time is because there might be too many people talking a little too loud all at once, that it's just too much for the individual's brain to comprehend. Now it's different when you're only doing just the usual 5-20 mins in places like shops and all that, but asking a person with a developmental disability to wait in a queue for hours and hours, that's asking too much of them. That's why they need DAS. Now all this is most commonly found in developmental disabilities, like autism, down syndrome or ADHD My advice would be, when it comes to registering with a cast member, be very specific as to why you can't wait in line for a long period of time. Try explaining to them what happened the last time you waited in a queue for hours and hours, and how DAS would really help you. Also, delving deeper in regards to your condition could actually help too. Now, I know it's too personal for some, but as I always say, it doesn't have to be

    • @LostGirlinTomorrowland
      @LostGirlinTomorrowland 2 месяца назад

      Thank you for taking the time to comment. As to your first point as a theme park and defined under the American’s with Disabilities Act they are legally required to have accommodations. Therefore, they cannot get rid of the system completely, which is why it is still given to some. It gives them a legal out and after they deter or exhaust those who need it, they hope those people give up trying. As for the feeling it’s not about the money, then why are so many people who need accommodations being told to purchase Genie +? That’s all Disney wants is a high spend per visit. Check out any of their earnings calls. Chapek changed the reporting metric to shareholders to this during his term as CEO and it has not changed back. Prior it was overall revenue per day. With diminishing numbers at their parks they got to make up those loses. Even look at the stories of some who were told to use other means in the park on the interview and spent hours of their day convincing cast members at the park of what they were told on the call (i.e. return to line). They want to make it so difficult people give up the fight but they will still have an option, so they can deter people from suing them and defend themselves in court. As for explaining one’s condition, if you search any social media platform you can see that is not working. Disney has not only failed those who need accommodations but continues to discriminate based on unknown criteria because even those with autism have been rejected. To top it all off you need to buy a ticket prior to them letting you know you don’t meet their hidden criteria. Again, we have to say it doesn’t make sense why we can’t come together and fight for each other. People with so little always protecting those who hoard so much.

      @@LostGirlinTomorrowlandI'm sorry you feel that way. As for those with autism who have been rejected, that's likely due to the individual failing to give the cast member enough information, or they just ended up with an arrogant cast member. If it's the latter, then I'd try again another day and hopefully with another cast member who actually knows what they're doing. But, if they get rejected again, then I'd ask the cast member to put them through to a health expert who definitely knows what they're doing

    So much info, so much the park is getting wrong. I think personally yes people were abusing because we have heard and seen it. Do I think it’s also a money focused yes. When the parks closed for Covid that was so much money they lost AND opportunities to exceed previous years fiscal number were taken away via Covid. I think genie+ was to make up missed dollars from being closed AND the bonus money they would have earned I think they hoped individual lighting lanes would help as well. Cast member told me that they toy have to wait 10 minutes because the DAS lets you check in 10 minutes early. I don't know if that means that the return time is 10 minutes less than standby or they let you check in 10 minutes before your scheduled time.

    • @LostGirlinTomorrowland
      @LostGirlinTomorrowland Месяц назад

      So with the DAS even when you get back to the ride you wait in the lightning lane it not like you can go directly onto the ride when you check in. There has always been a little leeway on check in times, especially with cast member discretion. They tend to treat it like the LL times.

    • @jimeagle1155
      @jimeagle1155 Месяц назад

      So what's the issue with the 10 minutes then? They could make you actually go to the ride to schedule a return time so I think it's nice you don't have to do that. By the time you do the LL and do the ride it will probably be 10 minutes anyway. If you want to schedule a new ride immediately after checking in at a ride then you can buy that option.

      @@jimeagle1155 it’s just a weird quirk 🤷🏻‍♀️ if that’s what I had to go through to keep DAS then so be it. So if the wait is 60 mins, you wait 60 outside the cue, then if LL is 35 you’re waiting 35 in that cue. It just overall slows the process down. Just an observation that is a weird thing they changed for some reason.

It’s frustrating how those with so little are always so quick to protect those hoarding everything. Also, as we said in the video there is no evidence people misused the system. None what so ever. Only thing people have cited, was from another content creator who counted the blue circles when someone went through the lightning lanes, which is neither reliable nor valid. If someone brought me that study, as a person with a Ph.D., they would be laughed out the building for lack of any use of the scientific method or understanding of how to do research.

      @@LostGirlinTomorrowland I think the existence of influencers getting das passes and what they said to get it, even though fraudulent shows how easy it had become to deceive the process. I never once said anything about revenue or finances. During the last lawsuit that was made public, utilization records were divulged. I'm guessing over the next several years there will be lawsuits and I'm sure the utilization records will be requested. But going back in time, the GAC system turned into being very abused as it was easy to get with just a mobility aid that was just 11 years ago. People were selling their access. I have personally seen abuse, and I personally reported an individual who was selling his access to das inviting 5 people to join him through a DM on facebook, that was just August of 2023. I just looked up the email I sent. All fraud hurts the disabled community. All I'm saying, is there was abuse of the system. Too what extent I cannot say. But to say there was no abuse or even just minor abuse is not genuine. The other thing that is over looked a lot is, there are three types of people who were getting das pre changes, the abusers, the true disabled and a third group who have conditions that still could wait in lines but were given das. That third group were not defrauding the system, but they also didn't need the das accommodations. They may need other accomodations or maybe they dont need anything but das was given so protect the frontline CM's. The main reason it was taken to virtual chats only was to protect CM's. Since really the pandemic or maybe even before, people have gotten entitled and embolden to lash out at anything they deem negative to themselves. There are countless stories where CM's were being threatened after denying individuals. I'm guessing if Disney released data or if they even keep it, the amount of denials since 2020 or 2021 were way down. I know thats speculation but DAS was given for almost any reason the last few years. However, none of this takes away from the disabled community who truly need accommodations. I have seen over the last few weeks more and more positive stories coming out through FB groups. Disney will weed through this and fix it like they did in 2013 when they changed to DAS from GAC. That change caused all mobility users to lose their accommodations. They are also disabled, but it came out fine. Now it's like we have forgotten about that and think Disney is somehow anti disabled person. Thats just false, its just once videos were released showing how to get it, how can Disney combat the fraud?
